The Portrait Study
A portrait is an expression of who you are. It is a gift of love, of yourself, to someone dear to you. It is away to capture great occasions that may not return. It is an investment whose value will grow with the passage of time.
In order to offer you the very finest quality portraits, we recommend an advance consultation to consider clothing, settings and mood, as well as the way in which the final portrait will be utilized (home décor, gifts, business purposes, or reproduction). This will help us plan together to make your portrait sitting an interesting and enjoyable experience.
A portrait study involves craftsmanship, time, equipment and materials for which a charge is made.
Display Portrait Finishes
There are two kinds of finished display portraits:
Gallery Laminates:
Prints produced to your exact specifications. Rich, natural colours and sealed with protective textures, which will prevent fading. They are mounted on a durable board, ready for framing without glass.
Old Masters Canvas:
The most luxurious prints. They are bonded to a fine linen canvas and stretched over a wooden frame. A final touch of permanent lamination is applied. The elegance of the Rembrandt finish resembles an oil painting.
Helpful Suggestions
Accessories:
We want the portrait to center on you.
We recommend that you not wear much jewelry, makeup or accessories. Moderation will make a more memorable photograph.
Eye Glasses:
For someone who regularly wears glasses, its unnatural to be photographed without them. We suggest wearing frames without lenses. Because of the way lenses handle light, some tend to distort the face. Consider borrowing "lens-less" frames from your optician.
Consultation with Eugene is recommended.
Clothing Tips:
- Subtle colours such as grays, green sand browns photograph best.
- Dark colours with little or no pattern are complimentary.
- You may look heavier in bright colours and thinner in deep colours.
- Try not to wear colours that clash or fade into each other, also avoid side-by-side patterns.
- Dress comfortably and naturally, but dont overdress.
- Avoid short sleeves, too much skin tone will divert attention from the face.
- Velvets photograph much darker, avoid light coloured shoes and stockings. Wear comfortable clothes, youll feel better in something youre used to .
